Where do transfer students live?

I have one more year at community college and am starting to think about possible 4 year schools. The only good instate school that has my major is 4 hours away. I am very concerned because I am not sure where transfer students live. I am on the 5 year plan and will be 21 when I transfer and I do not want to live with the freshman. Plus isn’t 21 too old to live in the dorm anyway. I do not know anyone that is going to that school so I would have no room mates and I think it would be impractical to get an apartment. If anyone transferred schools has any advice, opinions extra that would be greatly appreciated.
